A Look At EA’s ‘Fly With Me’

Feb20

I’m lucky enough to play a game that attracts other game playing programmers, WeeWar. The game was recently bought out by EA and has been put on the shelf for now. A small group of dedicated players remains, and when one of them posted that they had a new game available on the iTunes App Store called Fly With Me, I happily handed over the $0.99 and picked it up.

Fly With Me

Fly With me is a fun little side-scroller where you control a bird and have to navigate through boards, chomping on bees to keep your strength up. The controls are simple, you just tap to flap, it’s the timing and animation that make the game challenging and fun. So much so that I have all 3 stars on all the levels, I’ve unlocked all the Game Center achievements and bonus levels (3 stars there too), got all the golden gears to unlock the super tough robo-bird, and as of the writing of this post, I hold the record for distance on all three of the challenge maps.

Fly With Me Challenge Mode

If you are looking for a fun game that is easy to pick up and play in short intervals, I highly suggest you pick up EA’s Fly With Me, and if you have any questions feel free to drop them in the comments!

April Fools on the Web 2011

Mar31
I haz April Foolz lolcats. Intended for use on...

Image via Wikipedia

I’ll be staying up late tonight to watch the beginning of April 1st 2011 and have some fun looking at all the great April Fools Days pranks on the web.

Be on the lookout for updates but I think you can expect something from a few repeat offenders:

Woot.comThinkgeek.com, and even Google.com

It’s been a few years since I’ve covered April Fools Day web pranks but you can check out a few older posts and you can also rank this year’s pranks at aprilfoolsdayontheweb.com

Updates – Here we GO!

Google Romance: “… you’ll live happily, and contextually, ever after.”

ThinkGeek’s products are up! – Get an “I, for one, welcome our new computer overlords” shirt with $15 purchase.  My favorite of the bunch – Angry Birds Pork Rinds:

>  All YouTube videos can now be played in 1911 silent mode – about time, the talkies ruined everything!  Maybe not available on all of them though.

>  Looking for some good pranks?  Looks like you can change someone’s Google’s language preference to Elmer Fudd or their Facebook to Pirate-English!  Details@ USAToday.com

> Update 12:47am EST – Time to head over to see what Woot! has coming up at 1am EST!  Usually there is a bag of crap around – read carefully!  Get your credit cards ready!

> Ok So Woot is making you complete game levels as their smart post snail delivering Bags of Crap to earn your April Fools Day bag of crap- I think I grabbed one but the site is acting funky for me so we’ll see.   Avoid the obstacles and shoot the packages with your spacebar, but only shoot into the houses wondering where their BOC has gotten off to!

- Looks like they are trying to fix the funky, as an FYI you the BoC are broken into segments, one allotment per game level.  Looks like I got off easy and snagged a level 1 Crap, keep playing and level up to get the higher level craps… and let me just say HAHA that snail is sloooooowwww :-p

-And it’s back – you’ll need flash to play if you are having problems make sure you are up to date and flash is not blocked!

- Get your Crap?  Brag about it over in the Deals.Woot Community Section ( I’m Tygerdave – say hello!)

> Kodak is touting their new app, Relationshiffft! - “Status change? Don’t delete…Relationshiffft!   Photo and video person purge helps you move on.”

> Nerd Comic xkcd goes 3D – The joke will be on you when you puke after the 45 seconds…  (also seems to have broken image linking on newer comics so you’ll have to go yourself)

Friday March 4th is the first annual DSUNFSJB Day!

Feb27

Born from the boredom and creativity of the deals.woot community combined with my love of made up holidays and a need to create an unforgivably long domain name, Friday March 4th marks the first annual Do Something Unexpectedly Nice For Someone Just Because Day.

The name speaks for itself so the website doesn’t have to, freeing me up to have a little extra fun. I hope you will enjoy it and I hope you will try to do something unexpectedly nice on Friday well!

March forth on March fourth and do good things!

Watch the 2011 Superbowl ads on your iPhone or iPad

Feb7
USA Today

Image via Wikipedia

Maybe you’re like me and didn’t see the Superbowl this year but still would like to be part of the conversations tomorrow? Well, everyone knows that the post Superbowl conversation breaks down into 3 major categories:

10% – The Game
15% – The half-time show
75% – The commercials

Want to join in on the conversation? You can surf on over to USA today’s site and catch up on all 60 of the Superbowl ads on your smartphone or tablet and see what everyone is talking about. The ads are listed in popularity order by default so you can even be sure that you see the best ads first if you have limited time, use the two finger scroll method to move down the list.

If you ever wonder why Superbowl advertising is so expensive, look no further – I just actively sought out something that i normally go to great pains to avoid. Happy watching!
