Here are a five sites that will help you see what presidential candidates align with your views. These are interesting but if you’re moderate like me your best matched candidate will change between the different sites. I had a few that almost always went to the bottom of the pack, but other than that the results were pretty mixed. This was a good exercise for me since we’re getting to the point where I’ll need to start paying attention. I’ve already been taking a look at the polls over at Polled.info but they don’t really say much about the issues. Anyway here you go, some are better than others and I think the more you lean to the left or right, the more standardized your results will be:
2008 SelectSmart.com Presidential Candidate Selector - I couldn’t get the slider to go back to the middle after I had moved it, so fair warning.
WQAD Select a Candidate - This poll seems to have Hillary and Obama as having exactly the same views, which doesn’t seem very accurate.
Candidate Quiz - This quiz has leading questions and expects black and white answers.
Candidate Calculator - Simple radio buttons and drop down list with a decent selection of issues.
Vote Match Quiz - Also allows you to compare your views with previous senate races.
I suggest you take them all and use the results as a starting point for further research.
UPDATE: There’s a followup with more tools to help you match your candidate.
