*WARNING* This is still VERY useful info if you want cookie support through HoTTProxy for your phone - it lets you check your gmail, etc. BUT this is NO LONGER going to be minutes usage if you don’t have a plan that includes internet, there will be a per MB charge added to your bill! Please read: Verizon WAP Hackers Must Read: New $1.99/MB Charge
If you do not want to use your cell phone’s providers WAP service you might find a little hard to change the settings. Your first problem would probably be that the settings are no where to be found! Once you do manage to find the secret menu then you have the problem of not being able to edit any of the fields! Well this can all be changed but it will take some work and it’s not an exact science. All of this information can be gleaned from the pages of HowardForums.com. If you want to hack any cell phone that is the place to start, and I doubt you’ll have to look elsewhere. This process is almost excatly the same for the green, orange, and the silver versions of the LG vx9900. You’ll be playing with some sensitive areas of your phone so be very careful and think twice about this especially if you are out of your return period for the phone and don’t have a backup phone available. Here are the 10 steps you’ll need to take if you are planning on hacking your enV…

Step 1. To be able to edit the WAP settings you’re going to have to make a change to (or replace) a file in your phone’s file system, and to mange that you’re going to need to see the file system. One way to do this is to download and install BitPim. This program will come in handy in for getting lots of information on and off of your phone.
Step 2. You need to be able to connect your computer to your phone. There are two ways to do this that I am aware of, the first is to use a Bluetooth Adapter the second is to use a data cable
. People are more likely to have bluetooth so I’ll focus on that. Have the enV find your computer and pair the two, the serial port service is the one we’re going to need and we’ll need to know what COM port is being used. (Right-click the bluetooth icon on the taskbar and goto advanced config > Local Services Tab > Note the bluetooth serial COM port)
Step 3. Right-click the bluetooth icon on the taskbar and select quick-connect > Bluetooth Serial Port > LG VX9900 to connect the phone with the computer and start BitPim. In BitPim goto Edit > Settings and put in the LG VX9900 and the com port you noted in Step 2. When you try to get data from the phone you may get a message that access has been blocked by the phone provider. To get around this switch the phone setting from the vx9900 to the vx8700 and get data. Click continue on the long error message that pops up, switch back to the vx9900 and you should be able to get data now.
Step 4. In Bitpim select View -> Filesystem and then click on the new filesystem icon that appeared and expand the file system view.
Step 5. In the OWS folder (make a copy of everything in here on your computer) there is a file called paramtable1.fil. Make things easy on yourself and visit this thread on HowardForums.com and download the replacement file from user Humpa and copy over the original file on your phone. The file is preconfigured for wap.google.com but will allow you to edit this if you want to use HoTTProxy or some other service.
Step 6. Go to the service menu. For the Silver you just press zero on the main menu, on the green and orange you dial ##program9900. To be more specific open the phone and hit <sym> 3, <sym> 3, p,r,o,g,a,m,9,9,0,0,<SEND>. The service code is all zeroes for all colors.
Step 7. Go to the WAP menu option and change your primary port to 80.
Step 8. If your phone didn’t restart, go ahead and do it for good measure.
Step 9. This is where you cross your fingers that I didn’t forget any steps.
Step 10. Get online! You should be able to get to any site Google has indexed. I highly recommend you take a look at setting up HoTTProxy on your home computer and using that instead.
