Farecast – The starting point for air travel View Comments

Planning a trip?  If you have decided on your destination or at least narrowed it down to a few options then head over to Farecast to help you book your ticket.  Farecast has looked over historical ticketing data and presents the results to you in a simple, visual way.  You can use that historical data to find out what date is likely to have the cheapest flight and what date will likely be the cheapest to buy your ticket on.  As of today they have a 74.5% accuracy rating on their predictions, and if you don’t feel like taking that risk you can buy “insurance” with their Fare Guard product.  If they claim the price will go down and you purchase a fare guard and it goes up, they will pay for the difference!  Of course with a 74.5% accuracy rate you might have better odds in Vegas…

Links to the cheapest flights are provided, you don’t buy through Farecast.  That’s probably for the best since most carriers have a low-price guarantee on their own sites.  It’s really a well designed and it’s the only place you need to go when you’re looking for plane tickets.  Do me a favor when you visit the site and request they add GSP to their growing list of supported airports!  There’s a lot of good information at their site here.
